Travelling can be a wonderful and exciting experience, but unfortunately, sometimes things don’t always go according to plan. That’s why it’s important to have travel insurance, especially one that includes the missed departure benefit.
Please note any claims eligibility is subject to the terms and conditions of the travel insurance product you are purchasing. The reasons stated below are indicative and not binding. It is highly recommended to read our terms and conditions to see the exclusions, limits and conditions of products.
You can view Allianz Travel Terms & Conditions for more information.
Allianz Travel offers travellers their Travel Extra and Travel Gold options across its Single Trip Travel Insurance and Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance packages, both of which include the missed departure benefit. This benefit provides coverage for the cost of extra accommodation and transport if you’re delayed by more than four hours in getting to the departure point by the time shown in your travel itinerary due to public transport not running to its timetable, or the vehicle you’re travelling in having an accident or breaking down.
With this coverage, you don’t have to worry about the additional expenses that you may incur due to a missed departure. You can rest easy knowing that you’ll be reimbursed for any necessary expenses you may have to pay in order to get to your destination or back home.
However, it’s important to note that there are some limitations to this coverage. For example, you’ll need to get a letter from the public transport provider confirming that the service did not run on time, or confirmation of the delay from the authority who went to the accident or breakdown affecting the vehicle you were travelling in.
It’s also important to allow time in your travel plans for delays that are expected. Any delay caused by a riot, civil commotion, strike, or industrial action which began or was announced before your policy or travel tickets for your journey were bought (whichever is later) will not be covered. Likewise, failure of public transport caused by a riot, civil commotion, strike, or industrial action which began or was announced before you left home or where you could have reasonably made other travel arrangements will also not be covered.
Finally, if an aircraft, cross-channel train, or sea vessel on which you are booked to travel is withdrawn from service, temporarily or permanently, by the carrier or on the recommendation or order of any government, civil aviation authority, port authority, rail authority, or other similar authority in any country, this will not be covered.
In conclusion, having travel insurance with the missed departure benefit can provide peace of mind and financial protection in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Allianz Travel’s Travel Extra and Travel Gold plans included with its Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance plans offer this benefit, but it’s important to carefully read the terms and conditions to ensure that you’re fully covered.
